Schoolies are always looking for new places to celebrate after a hectic exam week. After all who doesn’t love to spend a good time after some boring and tough weeks have passed. Fiji is becoming a popular place for schoolies celebrations and there are several reasons for that.
Parents Are Concerned
Many parents are not choosing Gold Coast as a place for spending holidays; instead they are sending their kids to locations like Fiji. The concern is due to the crackdown on underage drinking in Gold Coast.
It was obvious that the parents wanted to make their kids stay away from “unsafe” locations. The schoolies are also more pleased to be going to an overseas place without their parents which means almost no restrictions for them.
Many resorts in Fiji have banned alcohol and hired additional guards to protect the students. This is a positive step which is appreciated by the parents.
The safety concerns in Gold Coast and the alcohol abuse has changed the preference of the students. Now they are moving to more secure places like Fiji to celebrate and enjoy their holidays.
Bye Bye Gold Coast and Hello Fiji
It was common for schoolies to visit Gold Coast to celebrate the moment after exams. However, this changed due to violence which resulted from excessive use of alcohol and the schoolies wanted to move to more rewarding and attractive locations.
This year, people started to visit overseas locations like Fiji. Even bookings for the next year were also being made in advance. The locals were very happy to see huge amounts of people pouring into Fiji as it meant more business for them, and they opened their hands to warmly welcome the schoolies.
Sure Thing Fiji has made it possible for schoolies to get affordable accommodation and packages and the students can make the most out of their holidays.
The people of Fiji understand the importance of vacations and they let the students enjoy without poking them. They want to create a unique and memorable experience for the schoolies, which is the exact thing the students are looking for.
Apart from underage drinking, the schoolies that visited Gold Coast last year were called “menaces” for riding scooters and bicycles dangerously causing traffic chaos. This could not be tolerated by the local population and they reported these activities.
Moreover, some schoolies were also found sitting on the edge of a balcony, as though they were committing suicide. The building comprised of more than nine floors. Other students trashed a penthouse and were found guilty.
The students knew that they had less chances of their vacation being ruined if they visited Fiji and enjoyed their time in such a place. Therefore, a growing trend of schoolies celebrations in Fiji has been noticed and a decline has been seen in the number of students that are visiting Gold Coast for vacation.
I didn’t that schoolies are choosing Fiji as a holiday destination and even making their reservations in advance. I guess I will have to pick a time to visit Fiji when it isn’t so hectic. When’s the best time of the year to do so?
