Best Beaches in Cancun to visit

The turquoise water and white sand beaches are probably the main reason to visit Cancun, since the great landscapes that the Caribbean Sea offers are seriously one of a kind. However, there are plenty of options of beaches along the area that you can easily reach, either in a bus, walking, or getting private Cancun transportation, so choosing just one is a really challenging task.

When you hear about Cancun’s most famous beaches, there are many options coming to your mind, so here you can find some of the most popular and attractive beaches along with the amenities they offer, so you can choose the best to visit.

Playa Delfines

Considered one of the most famous beaches in Cancun, with crystalline waters and white sand, Playa Delfines is the perfect place to enjoy the sun and surfing thanks to the strong waves. Take into consideration that due to that, it is not a good place for children, however, it has the blue flag certification and you can find access ramps and lifeguards in the surrounding areas.

Playa Delfines is very quiet since it’s far from big hotels and resorts, but you can still find palapas, lounge chairs, and restrooms. There you will also find the well-known Cancun sign, because what is better than a great picture with the turquoise sea in the background?

Playa Tortugas

If you are looking for adventure and sports, this is your place! Even though Playa Tortugas is a quiet beach to enjoy with a family, it has the perfect spot to practice some beach soccer and volleyball and offers activities such as bungee jumping from a 25-meter tower, snorkeling, scuba diving, jet-skiing, and surfing.

Do not worry, the beach is full of delicious restaurants and there are also some lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent to enjoy the crystal waters. If you are traveling with your family, this beach has a small inflatable water park over the water, perfect for children.

Playa Chac Mool

Out of vendors and commerce, Playa Chac Mool is perfect for those looking for a quiet spot to run away from the crowds. It is also one of the best surfing beaches in Cancun, characterized by its turquoise waters and strong waves ideal for parasailing and water skiing. During the months of August to November, Playa Chac Mool is home of turtle nesting, so take your precautions and ask the locals if you want to be part of that event.

This beach is perfect for a day trip to enjoy the sun in one of the palapas or lounge chairs, it also offers restrooms and showers, and Señor Frogʹs and Coco Bongo are in a 5-minute walk away from the beach.  If you are arriving from Cancun International Airport, you can also get there or stay close to it, and the distances will be less than 15 minutes between each site.

Playa Ballenas

Another beautiful beach located between the Hard Rock Café and the Dreams Sands Cancun hotel offers a great spot to take a sunbath or just enjoy the different activities outdoors. Access to Playa Ballenas is not complicated since the bus service is a perfect option to get there or private Cancun airport transportation if you want to avoid the stress of the public transfers.

Just like the beaches mentioned before, this one has different amenities such as restrooms, showers, and parking areas in case you want to drive yourself there. A space to play volleyball is also available, so don’t forget your balloon.

In case you are into surfing, the strong waves make it perfect for practice or to rent a jet ski for a ride on the sea. However, due to the waves and currents, Playa Ballenas is not a great option to take children, so think twice if you are planning to take your kids.
